ABSTRACT:

With a series of Chinese government policies advocating steel structure residential buildings, the development of urban construction and the continuous improvement of the demand for the quality of the house, a large number of steel and composite residential buildings were built. Therefore, It’s necessary to study on the application of different layers of steel structure residential buildings. In this paper, four different structural systems including braced frame structure (BFS), single layer steel plate shear wall frame structure (SPSW), double layer steel plates with inner concrete composite shear wall frame structure (DSPC), and composite steel plate shear wall (CPW) were calculated. The columns of the frames are not rectangular or circular, they are L-shaped columns composed of CFT columns. 60 structural models were analyzed with different layers, different earthquake intensities and various units. The model computations were divided into two stages. The first stage of the 12 models were analyzed by Midas software, and the 48 models were tested by YJK software on the second stage. In this paper, we find out that the braced frame system is not suitable when the number of layers is higher than 24. With the increase of the number of layers, the braced system is difficult to meet the lateral stiffness requirements. The DSPWs show better performance and economical.
